Activities

There are a lot of ways to have fun in the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area. Besides the beautiful views, the warm people and the incredible environment, this area is blessed with a National Park, mangroves, two world class rivers, an ocean full of great species of fish, rainforests and waterfalls.

Our concierge will be glad to help you decide which activity is best for you. There are several companies in town; however, our concierge will know how to choose the best ones, based in their experience, safety and fun. Some activities we recommend in Manuel Antonio are:

Costa Rica is an outdoor living country, for several reasons, the stunning mountain views, the wildlife that surrounded the countryside and the excess of oxygen in any area, especially in Manuel Antonio or Quepos.

There is only a truly natural way to get in touch with nature, and that way is on a horse. Other animals won’t feel intimidated by your presence so you have a better chance to see them up close, you won’t disturb the rivers and riversides, AND you will get access to some places that no 4X4 vehicle can.

The tour operator we recommend has an amazing tour, where both experienced and beginners riders will feel in true communication with the particular environment where this tour is developed. From the stables to the mountain tops, where the views are too incredible that words cannot describe them. After you move to the river where you will feel how the horse will be refreshed by the cold water while you get refreshed as well. After that a 3 level waterfall with an amazing paddling pound just perfect to cool off and rest before riding again. This is an amazing ride from the primary to the secondary rainforest, by the plantain and pineapple plantations to get back to the stables in a circle trail, that brings you all the Costa Rican country side culture and vegetation.

It’s simple. Costa Rica is a small nation, however it holds 101 world records, according to the 2004 IGFA World Record Game Fishes. In detail… 22 all tackle, 59 line test and 20 fly fishing world records. That is a very good reason to fish here. Here are the records from our fishery, the Pacific waters around Quepos: 1 all tackle record for a Pacific Barracuda (Sphyraena argentea); 1 all tackle record for a Pacific Black Snook (Centropomus nigrescens); 2 line test records for Blue Marlin (Makaira nigricans); 2 line test records for Pacific Snook (Centropomus spp); 1 line test record for Cubera Snapper (Lutjanus novemfasciatus); 1 line test record for Bluefin Trevally (Carnx melampygus); and finally 2 fly fishing records for Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus). 10% of these of the Costa Rican records have been established in waters around Quepos.

Sailfish beyond number, world record class snooks, and the best salt water fly fishing… Here, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica , it’s common to release ten or more sailfish and even some big marlins, all in one day. Also you can find king dolphin (mahi mahi… ), lots of tunas, wahoos, snappers, snooks, and roosterfish.
